Golden Dragons
The speaker in the purple opaque helmet barked, “Police, assume your positions at parade.” The purple suit pointed to Tan-ha’s sea bag. “Why did you bring your sea bag to a parade call?”
Tan-ha paused a moment. He still thought that he was to be executed. “I want my parents to have it, Your Excellency.”
The purple suit turned to follow the Field 2 in command of the 4th to the parade grounds. The speaker said, “You can hand it to them yourself.”
Karen's Trial
When the men’s tournament was finished Karen walked into the middle of the vacant field to point to the men’s overall champion and lifted her left hand, palm up, and gestured for him to come to her with her index finger. The movement of that finger was highly insulting to a man of the People. The two both assumed the starting position; knees flexed with open hands palms up. The woman challenger must begin. A quick, closed-right fist to the man’s chest and they were off.
Hairy Pig
"When I began editing this series I didn’t know what to expect. After a short while I found myself pulled into both the stories and having a keen interest in these characters and their fates. This book introduces a truly EPIC character in Hairy Pig. This character instantly becomes the center of this new universe John has created. This world, and its characters, are amazing and become welcome friends to visit and enjoy their exploits." - Amazon Review
Ice Time
Her mind was briefly concerned with the engineering problem of burning 100 kilos of human body on a 180cm frame. Was the temperature hot enough to completely consume the body? It was her husband’s body. She would not have his arms and legs around her tonight. She would not hear his slight snore behind her head. For the first time in more than 70 years he would be gone and never return. This hunting trip was forever. She could not cry.
Marilyn Carter
Marilyn had dropped off the face of the earth. Her walk to school would be less than a block; her new route was covered the entire way. She was also told she did not have to go in to Kathy’s office for a while. As Marilyn was digesting all of this information she answered her mother, “Someone figured out that I am a blue. The danger for Hank was too great. Karen and I could handle anything, but he can’t. We will miss the courtyard.”
Shaman
The girls walked over to the shocked woman, who had run out of her hut in panic when she heard charging horses. White Hair put her arms around the panicked woman. “Mother, please do not tell of what you saw here. We were protecting the medic inside. We cannot be captured alive by men.” The woman looked up at Emily. “Child, I understand. I will keep this miracle to myself. Are you fairies to have such power?”
Victory
Emily simply said, “I am a Shaman of the People. I may not violate the Law. Release them.” Maureen said the same. Jane looked at the three mayors. “I am not a priestess yet and my teacher is not present. I know what she would say. Release them, stop the killing.”
Civilization
Around a large outcrop, down a draw, there stood five large deer. Above them, and unseen by the deer, was one large lion. Moa stood transfixed. As long as the lion did not see or smell her she would be safe.
